Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026.
So here we are folks, 4 months out from the eagerly anticipated Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann making its way to Béal Feirste or Belfast for the very first time. As a youngster my parents took us (there are 7 children in our house) all over Ireland from our very first All Ireland Fleadh in Clonmel, Co Tipperary in 1992 to Listowel, Ballina, Enniscorthy, Letterkenny etc etc and to the county fleadh and provincial fleadh every year. Fleadhanna were a staple in our house year on year, and we loved going. Little did we think that we would be hosting our friends from all over Ireland someday when we grew up in two different worlds on the same island. I am very lucky to say that many of the friends I made over the many years attending the fleadh are still my friends today although we have gotten a little greyer and maybe non the wiser :) However, I hope to use my blog to let you all know where I will be playing during the fleadh and maybe even record some experiences on the lead up, during the Fleadh week and in the aftermath. As you may be aware, Belfast has secured the Fleadh already again in 2027 so the future looks brighter for trad music and musicians in the city. For now, watch this space and hopefully I can bring some Fleadh Cheoil cheer to you wherever you reside in the world.
